JUNE 23, 2008

Last week I got home from Las Vegas! :-) I got to spent 5 nights and 4 full days at the Mirage Hotel and it was AMAZING!  42 degree heat, our pool was paradise with palm trees and waterfalls, and Britney Spears even showed up the day we left!  But she went to the topless pool...  Scandalous.  It was hard to drag ourselves away from the pool but we also explored the entire strip, went inside every hotel, took a gondola ride, saw the magical water show at the Bellagio, got our O2 fix at an Oxygen Bar, went to the top of the Eiffel tower, and checked out Stomp out Loud (from the front row!)  We were literally covered in dust after.  We also decked ourselves out and went to a couple of nightclubs.  The Bank at the Bellagio is just plain beautiful.  They have Walls of Cristal…  insane.  They come around with FREE shots, and they free pour like it’s nobodies business.  Plus we knew the guy working the door from Edmonton so he let us right in like we were VIP.  He he.  We also went to Jet Nightclub inside our hotel which is HUGE (They have 3 rooms, 3 DJ's, 3 dancefloors, 3 VIP areas, it's like 3 clubs in one).  The line up was massive and thankfully we were on the Guest List (care of our door guy friend from Edmonton) but since we were a guy and a girl it was still pretty hard to get in right away.  They like to let in loads of ladies first.  We finally got in and partied with Lil’ Jon who was DJ’ing in the big room.  Surprisingly I didn’t hear one “YEAH” or “OKAY”.  He’s over that I think… it’s all about “Get Buck/ Get Crunk”.  Freak.  (And I mean that in a good way.)

I’d have to say the one bad thing about Vegas was our Sushi experience.  I can’t go a couple days without eating it so obviously I wanted it bad in Vegas.  We were recommended to go to one particular place called Social House and everything on the menu seemed to only be a few dollars more expensive than I’m used to paying so not a big deal right!?  When we ordered Toro, our FAVE, and it was labeled as Market Price.  I thought it would be 8, maybe 9 dollars a piece at the most seeing as everything else was only a few dollars more than usual… Sooo wrong!  We got the bill and they were 25 dollars a piece!!  We ordered 4 pieces… and needless to say we wanted to punch somebody after that!  But really everything else was amazing.  Loved the premium outlet mall.  We got a lot of name brand things for sooo cheap.  The only thing I was sad about was that I couldn’t find a good pair of jeans at True Religion.  They all looked too baggy on me or something and I was so sad.  They were only like 120 bucks too!  Unbelievable.

Thanks to everybody who e-mailed or facebook messaged me advice about what to check out in Vegas!  I wouldn’t have had such a great time or even known about some of the coolest things I saw if you hadn’t recommended them.  I’m soooo going again, I can’t stop raving about it.  I just gotta pay off this trip first, and save up for the next one ha ha ha.  Well I did win $150 bucks at the slot machine…  I know… I’m such a high roller.

So I guess we gotta get used to dialing 10 digits now.  Thankfully I had already programmed my Blackberry address book with area codes since I have family and friends all over Alberta and BC.  Plus I go back home to Edmonton so much that when I want to call somebody back in the Okanagan it’s easier to call them when I already have 250 programmed.  So I feel sorry for ya if you gotta go through your phone and change everybody’s numbers around now… but while you’re doing it listen to BC at Night… even call me up and maybe I’ll play a song for you!  But don’t forget  to dial 250!  :-)  Or you can’t go wrong with using the toll-free #:  1-866-877-HITS (4487).

Talk soon!
