Decent as an introduction, but probably better suited for the devoted fan, this 18-song, career-spanning set showcases the impressive eclecticism of Barbara Manning. From the Celtic-tinged cover of Paul Mccartney's "Don't Let It Bring You Down" to the driving grunge pop of "Damned Lucky," Manning's talents as both a songwriter and song interpreter are in evidence. Culled from 7"s, compilations, previously unreleased tracks, and off-the-cuff outtakes, the collection may lack cohesiveness but ultimately triumphs by virtue of Manning's sincerity. Read More
