New York native Brittney Cleary was just 12 years old when she joined the pop music ranks of fellow teen acts that were ruling over mainstream music at the dawn of the new millennium. A vivacious young lady who used to sing karaoke with her grandma, Cleary went through auditions and participated in various musical competitions as a young kid, including NorthEast CMA's Cornfest and her own headlining show in upstate New York. Determined to make her dream come true, she and her family relocated to Nashville and Cleary inked a deal with Relentless Records. Her first demo, Butterfly Girl (2000), was already a buzz, but she yearned to perfect her skills by working with vocal coach Renee Grant-Williams (Faith Hill, Martina Mcbride, Christina Aguilera) before recording an album. Debut single "I.M. Me," produced by John Guess (Dixie Chicks), was a spunky pop cut about Cleary's favorite hobby -- chatting with her friends via the Internet -- and it quickly took major pop markets by surprise. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
