Members of Kelowna's next Council will see a raise over the current salaries.

Council approved the recommendations by Indemnity Committee Chair, Jack Dangerfield that City Councillors see raises over the next couple years at 1% of the Mayor's salary in each of 2009 and 2010.

The Mayor's salary won't really change, but it will be adjusted annually based on the previous year's Consumer Price Index.

However, the Mayor will have a 15-hundred dollar meal expense account.

This will reimburse him or her for meal-time meetings on city business - it was not recommended that the Mayor be issued a City credit card, and instead, the expenses will have to be claimed by showing receipts and signing an expense claim.
