UPDATE: Power could be out into evening on Hwy 97

It could be into the evening before people near Kelowna International Airport get their lights turned back on.

A three car accident Thursday morning at Highway 97 and Edwards blew out power to about 1500 Fortis BC customers in the area.

Spokesperson Jodi Foster-Sexsmith says they've managed to get the lights back on for about half the affected customers, but it could be as late as 7-9pm to get the rest of the power restored.

Meanwhile, Highway 97 has been re-opened in both directions, however southbound traffic is being slowed down by Fortis BC crews in the area.
