Internet Fraud
Another arrest has been made in a ongoing internet fraud investigation.
Kurtis Pomerleau of Kelowna is being held in Calgary on theft and fraud charges.
Calgary Police Services say Pomerleau lured victims through EBay and stole nearly $100,000 in cash. The victims sent money through a wire transfer to Calgary bank accounts and did not receive promised vintage cars.
Constable Dean Nichol says Pomerleau is also facing similar charges out of Kelowna stemming from May of last year. "At that time several dozen victims in the United States were identified. Mr. Pomerleau appears to have been using the exact same methodology to defraud his victims."
The investigation is ongoing and police say additional charges are likely.
Two people were also arrested in April, one from Vernon and one from Kelowna who police say are likely part of the scheme.
