Arising from the Providence underground music scene, V. Majestic released their self-titled debut album in 1997 to sporadic critical acclaim. The lo-fi, neo-psychedelic noise-rock group, consisting of Frank Difficult (keyboards/electronics), Gerard Heroux (horns, vocals), Robert Jazz (guitars), Russell Kellogg (bass, vocals), and Stuart Powers (drums), produces music created from so many varied and discordant styles that it is singular enough to nearly defy description. "Weird" seems to be a favorite word among reviewers. Many of the songs on their album are heavy on psychedelic guitar sounds, but horns also figure prominently in their work, which is heavily influenced by '70s Krautrock. ~ Nick Kemper, All Music Guide
